RJ45 splitter (Model DC-102) consists of three RJ45 jacks. A pair of such RJ45 splitters can be used at the two ends of a LAN cable to establish a second 10/100M Ethernet connection by using the two otherwise unused twisted pairs of the LAN cable.
One legacy application of RJ45 splitters is for cable sharing which connects two Ethernet devices such as two PCs to an Ethernet switch by a single LAN cable. The diagrams belwo illustrate how the RJ45 splitter can be used for cable sharing.
