Dualcomm's patent pending 24-Port CableShare Fast Ethernet LAN Switch (DCES-2448) is the first product offering of its kind in the networking industry.
DCES-2448 is a rack-mountable 24-port unmanaged fast Ethernet switch with two sets of 24 RJ45 jacks on the front panel. The top set of 24 RJ45 jacks are connected to an internal 24-port Ethernet switching circuitry for receiving and forwarding packets among these 24 ports; each of the top RJ45 jack also is wired to the corresponding bottom RJ45 jack in such a way for cable sharing purpose that the 10/100Base-T
Ethernet signal presented on the bottom RJ45 jack is carried by the same network cable (e.g. CAT5e) connected to the top RJ45 jack.
DCES-2448 can be used as a regular 24-port unmanaged fast Ethernet switch; it also can easily be set up for situations where cable sharing is desired (see the network diagrams below). Especially, this product provides a cost-effective approach of migrating an existing local area network to support VoIP telephony by building a cable-sharing and physically separated dual-network system that effectively separates voice traffic from computer data traffic.
