[Description]
Dualcomm's patent pending Dual Gigabit Copper/Fiber Ethernet EasyTap (Model No. ETAP-2206) implements an 10/100/1000Base-T copper Ethernet Tap and an 1000Base-X/1000Base-T optical to copper converter Tap in a single portable device. The innovation design of ETAP-2206 provides a cost-effective and easy to use solution for network engineers and professionals to capture the full-duplex network traffic of both an copper gigabit Ethernet link (1000base-T) and an optical Ethernet link (1000base-X).
The block diagram below illustrate the traffic flow inside the ETAP-2206 which provides:
Tap No. 1: 10/100/1000Base-T Copper Ethernet Tap
One network Tap on ETAP-2206 is an 10/100/1000Base-T aggregation network tap with two inline ports and an monitor port. The monitor port receives a copy of full-duplex traffic running between the two inline ports. The two inline ports and the monitor ports operates according to 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet standard with auto-negotiation and auto-MDIX.
Tap No.2: 1000Base-X to 1000Base-T (Fiber to Copper) Converter Tap
The other network Tap on ETAP-2206 is an 1000Base-X to 1000base-T converter network tap with two optical inline ports operates according to 1000Base-X optical Ethernet standard and an monitor port operates at 1000Base-T. The monitor port receives a copy of full-duplex traffic running between the two inline ports. The two optical GbE ports use the industry standard Small Form-factor Pluggable transceivers (SFP)
PoE Inline Power Pass-Through
ETAP-2206 supports PoE inline power pass-through between the two inline copper network ports, by which the PoE inline power received at one inline port is DC-passed to the next inline port. This is a very desirable feature for use in capturing the traffic activity of a PoE powered network link segment because use of ETAP-2206 as an inline tap will not prevent a PoE device from receiving the PoE inline power.
USB Powered
When only one of the two taps is used, ETAP-2206 can be conveniently powered by USB bus power from an USB port of a computer or any other USB host device.
Jumbo Packets and VLAN Tagged Packets
ETAP-2206 supports jumbo packet size of up to 10K bytes. It also supports VLAN tagged packets that are mirrored from the respective two inline ports.
Plug & Play. Easy to Use
ETAP-2206 is plug and play, no user configurations are required to operate the device.
