[Description]
Dualcomm’s patent pending 1-to-3 Ethernet Regeneration EasyTAP (Model No. ETAP-1105/ETAP-2105) is a portable 5-port network TAP device that can find many applications when multiple network traffic monitoring tools or devices are required to capture and monitor the traffic on the same network segment simultaneously .
Specifically, ETAP-1105/ETAP-2105 provides a unique set of functionalities and features described as follows:
1-to-3 Traffic Regeneration (Figure 1)
ETAP-1105/ETAP-2105 is a regeneration TAP that replicates the full-duplex traffic running between the two inline ports (Port 1 and Port 2) across three monitor ports (Ports 3, 4 and 5) so that up to three monitoring tools or devices can be connected to performance various network traffic monitoring tasks simultaneously on the same full-duplex network traffic of a network link.
Figure 1 illustrates a typical set up of using ETAP-1105/ETAP-2105 as a 1-to-3 regeneration network TAP. Ports 1 and 2 are two inline ports to connect ETAP-1105/ETAP-2105 as an inline device between two network nodes A and B. Ports 3, 4 and 5 are three monitor ports, each of which receives and delivers a copy of the full-duplex traffic running between the two inline ports to the connected monitoring device.
1-to-4 Port Replication (Figure 2)
ETAP-1105/ETAP-2105 can be used as a 1-to-4 port Replicator which delivers a copy of the ingress traffic on Port #1 to each of the other four ports (Ports 2, 3, 4 and 5).
Figure 2 illustrates a typical set up of using ETAP-1105 as a 1-to-4 Port Replicator. Port 1 is connected to an uplink port (e.g. the SPAN port of a main Ethernet switch and Ports 2, 3, 4, and 5 are connected to their respective monitoring devices. Each of the four monitoring devices receives a copy of the ingress traffic of Port 1 to conduct the specific traffic monitoring or protocol analysis tasks.
Power-over-Ethernet Pass-Through
ETAP-1105/ETAP-2105 is specifically designed to facilitate the pass-through of PoE inline power between two inline network ports (Ports 1 & 2) so that a down-stream PoE powered end device (e.g., an IP Phone) will still received PoE inline power originated from a up-stream end device (e.g., an PoE Ethernet switch), not affected by the deployment of an ETAP-1105/ETAP-2105 unit in between the two end devices.
USB Powered
ETAP-1105/ETAP-2105 is designed to be conveniently powered by a USB port of a computer or any other USB host device. As such a user will have one less AC/DC power adapter to carry and one less AC outlet to hunt for.
